Mamas,
You’ll notice that I aim to revolve this space around you - the mother.
From the time we find out we’re pregnant, to birthing our littles, to monitoring their progressions in the postpartum period - the mother is often left behind (especially her spirit).
As a doula, prenatal yoga teacher and holistic coach for many years, I’ve witnessed so many mothers unconsciously squashing their inner world out of a belief that that’s “just what mothers do”...
So I’m here to squash that harmful belief 😳and the impact it has on you, your loved ones, and I’ll go as far to say, the world.
I’m here to remind you time and time again that your well-being matters - and that it is actually your well-being that shapes your children’s sense of Self and future (more so than most things).
So although our littles have the largest piece of our hearts and purpose, I want to hold space for all of YOU, in order to hold the best possible space for them!
I want The Nurtured Mother to be a space for you to heal, celebrate, pivot, laugh, dream, connect, reflect, unfold and cry.
It is here that you’re encouraged to feel all your feels and touch down with your deeper truths - in fact that’s the cool thing to do here!
Here we get to get raw and real about all of it - the beauty and the mess, so that we can finally release our spirits!
It is here that you’re supported and celebrated no matter where you are on your path - knowing full well that this is a journey and there is no such thing as a fixed state.
So mamas, I want to know how you’re doing!??

I want to know your deepest darkest secrets, so we can adorn the shadows they cast into propelled purpose and passion.
I want you to feel safe, excited and supported here.
I’ve had so many beautiful points of connection in my personal messages here with mamas just reaching out. Some mamas I’ve know for some time and some I’m just meeting.

STEPPING STONES
What is overwhelm and how can you support yourself to shift that pattern?
From this moment forward I want you to continuously, and compassionately, test yourself with what beliefs you embody.
My experience with most women today is that their higher brain knows that they don’t need to sacrifice all of who they are in order to mother, yet many of them don’t know how to live out this truth. Where do you stand in this?
Here are some insights and a couple tools to start establishing (or deepen) your capacity to embody the beliefs that align with you now.
FOOD AS MEDICINE
Roasted Cauliflower Steaks
First off, I have to say that I have been loving Romanesco Cauliflower these days! It’s got a slightly smoother flavour that just peaks the perfect amount of taste buds for me - so use whatever variety you like!
These “steak”s are oven roasted with simple seasonings like salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Cutting the cauliflower into thick slices makes them more hearty and satisfying I find!
Serve with your favourite sauce or just as is! Because of time, I’ve been limiting my sauces and testing my ability to retrain my desire for the simplicity of food. If I were to sauce it up I’d likely do an avocado chipotle, roasted garlic, basil and honey or chimichurri sauce.
INGREDIENTS
2 heads cauliflower
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika
¼ cup olive oil
1 teaspoon chopped parsley
DIRECTIONS
Adjust oven rack to the lower third position. Preheat to 500ºF (260ºC).
1. Remove the outer green leaves from the head of cauliflower and trim the stem. Using a large knife cut the cauliflower in half lengthwise through the centre. Cut a 1 ½-inch thick steak from each half. If the head is large, carefully cut one more steak from each of the cut sides. Repeat process with the other head of cauliflower. Trim any florets not connected to the stem. There should be about 4 to 8 pieces total. Place cauliflower steaks on a rimmed baking sheet.
2. In a small bowl mix together salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Drizzle olive oil on both sides of each cauliflower steak. Evenly sprinkle the seasoning mixture on both sides of the cauliflower steaks, about ¼ teaspoon per side.
3. Tightly cover the baking sheet with foil and bake for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, remove the foil from the cauliflower and roast for 10 minutes. Gently flip the cauliflower steak and roast until a golden brown crust forms on both sides, about 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with parsley.

The Wisdom of Trauma
Now that you know that overwhelm, trauma and our survival patterns are directly linked here’s a wonderful resource for you to start excavating your awareness.
One of my teachers recently released this touching, insightful and very timely movies on the wisdom of trauma, that I know will deeply impact you and your lens of yourself and the world — especially the way you parent.
It wasn’t until I introduced Gabor Mate and Peter Levine’s work into my life, that I truly found myself and the mother I had known was in there, and craved to show up as.
All the Yoga, spiritual ‘seeking’, success hustle, adventures, self development etc. I realized were coping strategies, versus modalities that liberated the root cause. This being said almost everything has a purpose — I’ve just learned how crucial it is to have awareness around what that purpose is.
So if you have it in you to watch this movie, then choose to be present to your body and its sensory experiences as you do… Then see what doors open for you no matter how uncomfortable they may feel at first!
Now, know that it’s very normal to resist these resources compared to the rainbows, unicorns and all those people promising you a flashy, adventurous and happy lifestyle that they now live (on social media at least)…
You’ve come to The Nurtured Mother to get real. To live authentically and be present to all of life, so that you can revel in its rich diversity of feeling, sensation, connection and experience.
Now also know that it’s very normal to resist the stuff that reflects the parts of ourselves that we don’t like, and the less desirable (and ‘acceptable"‘) feelings, so remember that it is here in The Nurtured Mother that we tend to it all.
As mothers our goal is to be well and connected to what matters for the long haul, so if you are ready to invite a New Way into knowing and unfolding yourself then this is a great resource!
Feel your way through it, instead of think your way through it!

P.S. My belief is that the sooner we do touch the centre of what we’ve been hiding from all this time (in a safe and masterful way), the sooner we can lead ourselves through lives that are more deeply aligned with our hearts truths and souls calling.

Stepping stones:
Stepping Stones are our weekly offerings to help keep you on a path that feels good. They are delivered in a way that harmoniously reflects and activates the constant dance between the divine feminine and masculine and the mind-body- spirit-nature connection. You can think of these as life-serving skills, insights and resources to invite into your life.
The Stepping Stones are placed along a spiral path, so they can be metabolized and integrated at any point in your journey as a nurtured mother.
Food As Medicine:
We’re living in a time where our physical, mental and spiritual health is being tested by our modern food and the systems that try to control it.
So much of what we’re sold as food isn’t actually food (even all that ‘health food’ stuff), so the more that we can view food as vessels for high vibe life force energy, the more we can enjoy a deeper relationship with the food that fuels ours and our families bodies.
Each week I will be including some of my fave Food As Medicine recipes for you, and the bodies that you cherish.
